If you use an electronic system to store information in regards to residents you would be able to have unique access codes for each resident this would help with storing personal information and keeping it secure. You would need to make sure you have a high level of virus and security protection.
If you are using a manual information storage system, you are relying on the staff to keep the information safe and secure by keeping the residents information up to date and locked in a suitable filing cabinet.
Within our care setting all our care plans are locked in a filing cabinet in our manager’s office. This is to ensure the security of each of our resident’s personal information. We do not leave any personal information, care plans or daily logs available on sides or tables as this would breach our security and storing of personal information.
